What is a bereavement doula?
A bereavement doula specializes in dealing with grief-related to death. Although society commonly refers to pregnancy loss as "miscarriage," it can occur at different gestations and for different reasons, making it difficult to seek support. The constant factor in the loss community is death which often leads to disenfranchised grief. When we first started offering this program, we marketed it as "miscarriage doulas" but always taught about miscarriage, stillbirth, TFMR, and more types of loss. In order to validate that pregnancy loss is death, we need to think of it under the bereavement umbrella.
What can you do with this certification?
By getting your certification in bereavement care, you could start your own business as a doula, join a doula agency, or use these learnings in your current profession to show that you are knowledgeable in pregnancy loss. You will receive a downloadable certificate!
